As the cold and chilly morning air turned into a balmy breeze, the the Boys Residence Hall prepared to celebrate Christmas. It was a peaceful and tranquil Saturday morning. Today was a day of celebration, a day where we would finally be able to take a break from the tremendous load of homework, a day for us to participate in a fun, yet competitive event: White Elephant Gift Exchange.

Before the event, each student who wished to participate bought a meaningful gift from 10$-20$, and wrapped it. Then, on Saturday. the participants－having received their share of dumplings and donuts－sat down in a circle in the Community Centre, with all the wrapped presents placed in the center. Unlike Secret Santa, the White Elephant Gift Exchange involves strategy and cooperation, with many students forming alliances and treaties.

The relaxing morning’s event soon ended. The participants, satisfied with their outcomes, joyfully concluded their early Christmas celebration.
