On August 24, the sound of footsteps and laughter engulfed the empty hallway as enthusiastic students entered the school building. Each and every one of them was filled with excitement, chit-chatting about their summer break and bonding with new students. With the jingle of a bell, students proceeded outside to attend the daily flag ceremony, officially beginning the first day of school.

To start off the day, the elementary and girls’ schools joined together to play a few icebreaker games, welcoming both new and returning students. After this, the students became more confident and outgoing, ready to tackle the new school year. As the students made their way back to the school building, the Class of 2027 guided everyone to Chan Hall to attend an orientation orchestrated by seniors Hannah, Ali, Doris, and Selene. The orientation went over uniform policies, classes, and general school rules. We ended the day by tidying up the school to optimize our studying environment.

On Thursday, August 27, following the first week of school, the elementary, junior high, and high school students had an official welcome-back ice cream party. Luckily enough, everyone got ice cream on a hot day, making the afternoon much more enjoyable. During the ice cream party, students were divided into four separate groups: Dragon, Phoenix, White Tiger, and Lion, to play charades.

Thank you to all the teachers, staff, and students for making it such an amazing way to start off the school year. We look forward to seeing how this year unfolds!
