Pi Day 2025

On March 14th, the 5th and 6th grade students at IGDVS participated in a Pi memorization contest held at Wonderful Words Hall. The contest began with each student taking the stage to share their understanding of pi and recite its digits. Most of the students recited in English, while others used Chinese. Regardless of how many digits each student memorized, everyone received applause from the audience. Through this contest, we noticed that pi is an irrational number that shows a pattern between a circle’s circumference and its diameter.

The final winners were as follows:

First place: Claire Yu (209 digits)
Second place: Eric Yu ( 145 digits)
Third place: Michelle Jin (115 digits)

The week before the contest,  students helped each other memorize the digits of pi during recess and checked each other’s progress.

Special thanks to Mrs. Miao for organizing the event and the teachers that came to support: Dharma Master Jin Rou and Mrs. Moore.
