Dharma Master Jin Rou imparts a profound lesson to the students, guiding them to recognize that each individual has an inherent, pure self-nature. She begins by handing out a ball of paper towel to each student and asks them to carefully unravel it. To their surprise, hidden within the layers of paper is a radiant gem. With this simple yet powerful illustration, she reveals a deep spiritual truth. Just as the gem is concealed within the layers, so too is the self nature—filled with goodness, wisdom, and virtue—within each person. This serves as a perfect reflection of ESLR 3: Students of our school gain a deep appreciation of their own inherent spiritual wisdom through meditation and other spiritual practices and teachings.
