On the morning of September 28th, 2024, the students gathered for a brief safety video preparing to head to Mill Creek Park for an exciting day. Upon arrival, Mr. Joe, a member of the Russian River Watershed Cleanup Committee, introduced the students to the importance of picking up trash. When garbage and plastics are left on the ground, they can break down into small microplastics, releasing harmful toxins that negatively impact marine ecosystems. Additionally, picking up trash helps maintain the beauty that surrounds us and prevents our ecosystems from being destroyed.

After hearing this, the students mindfully cleaned up the garbage piece by piece, creating a lot of good memories. The students were all very happy that they could contribute to creating a cleaner environment.

Following the clean-up, the students enjoyed a nutritious lunch at Anna’s Bistro which included sushi, stir-fried noodles, wontons, and much more. Overall, the students had an amazing time on their trip to help create a cleaner environment for us all.
