The Junior High class eagerly gathered around the white tables lined up in the hallway, chattering excitedly as they rolled out the corn leaves and carefully filled them with savory fillings. As the fragrance spreads around the school, the mouthwatering Tamales are finally done with all of the blood, sweat, and tears mixed into the corn-based cheese filled Mexican wraps. Making the tamales is not only a culinary delight, but it also helps students understand more of the Mesoamerican culture introduced by a parent, Mrs. Akin-Paz.
