On the 21st of April, DVGS students headed out to the Great Redwood Trail to fulfill our duty to the community by improving the cleanliness of the natural environment. The sun blazed brightly as they arrived in front of the path that led to the trail. Before setting off, the students enjoyed a marvelous lunch and donned bright safety vests after an introduction to the task by Mendocino County 2nd District Supervisor Ms. Maureen Mulheren.
Some students used spray paint cans and paint rollers to cover the graffiti that defaced the walls and fences, while others cleaned up litter along the trail with trash pickers and buckets. A graffiti-covered bench by the railroad tracks was also given a fresh coat of paint and covered with lovely designs.

After two hours of hard work, the students regrouped at the starting point and headed back to school. They had painted over most of the graffiti on the walls and pavement and cleaned the area of much unwanted garbage.
