On March 14th, IGDVS celebrated Pi Day with a memorization contest and the sharing of scrumptious fruit pies. The students learned about the origins and traditions of Pi Day, with facts and figures about this intriguing irrational number.

During the contest, students memorized as many digits of pi as they could, astounding the onlookers with their feats of memory. The first contestant recited an impressive 60 digits, but the final winner was Abigail Gong (Class of 2023), who memorized a whopping 126 digits.

Alongside this friendly competition, the students enjoyed cherry pies and strawberry cheesecakes to celebrate Pi Day. With the creamy pie melting in their mouths, it was a memorable way to get everyone excited about this special mathematical figure.
