A fun recess activity in the sandbox turned into a science lesson for all. The 3rd and 4th graders worked together to build a cat monument. They dug for days in the sandbox and worked together collaboratively. Ms. Bemis noticed the mound and decided to teach the students about erosion. She filled bottles of water for the activity and read a big book to the students. The 3rd and 4th graders poured the water over the mound and asked the K-1 students what they noticed. The 3rd and 4th graders took turns explaining to the K-1 students what was happening. This is learning at its best and a fun collaboration between K-1 and 3-4 graders. Fun times on the playground!
