03/22/2019. It was chilly and rainy as the high school students of DVBS strolled down to the big tent in front of the Buddha Hall. We were to spectate Mr. Chris Gifford as he demonstrated the art of glassblowing. He began with something easy: a marble. It may have been easy for him, but we were astonished by the intricacy of his finished product. While we looked in awe at the first marble, Mr.Chris had already started the next piece: a red teardrop heart. He then impressed us all with a detailed glass dragon. The high school session was concluded with Mr. Chris making a glass leaf, for we were going to “leave.” Finally, the elementary students gathered for their turn, while the older students departed for an orientation meeting in the Confucius Hall.
