Mother’s Day Surprise

Student Editorial: Belle Roberts

The last sight the guests of the 10,000 Buddhas Repentance expected to see while they were eating was a group of girls schoolers wielding paper flowers. Nevertheless, on the Friday before Mother’s Day, students from Instilling Goodness Developing Virtue Girls School charged into the Dining Hall intent on wishing all the aunties a happy Mother’s Day.

Although we should be cherishing our mothers each and everyday, Mother’s Day is a nice chance to take the extra step in showing them our appreciation. Throughout the week, students made origami flowers to give to the mothers attending the ceremony. They were met with mixed expressions ranging from gratitude to surprise. For us, it was an opportunity to remind them that no matter where they are in the world, no matter how far away from home, they will still be honored as mothers.
