As usual, ASB Retreat signalled the coming end to the school year. Students gathered at school on Friday, May 13, 2016, for a night filled with games, movies, and snacks. Twice a school year, the students are able to hold a sleepover at the school. Activities range from simple group games to amazing well-thought-out scavenger hunts, the winning team awarded with first choice of snacks. While ASB Welcome Back is a way for students to get to know each other and kick-start the new year, ASB Retreat is a celebration acknowledging the hardships the students have endured together and the strength they have built because of them. It is a way to unwind and enjoy the feeling of accomplishing another school year.
However, this year’s annual ASB Retreat was slightly different due to scheduling. The second day of ASB Retreat fell on another important date; The Celebration of Shakyamuni Buddha’s Birthday. While this did not change festivities, the students were able to attend the celebration the next morning.
