Summer Camp 2016: Kindness

June 20 to July 1

When the Great Way prevails,
everything in the world is done for the good of the public.
The virtuous and capable are elected to office.
Honesty and kindness are taught and practiced by all.
People not only care for their own parents and children,
but care for the parents and children of others as well.
– The Great Commonwealth by Confucius

Without a doubt, kindness is one of the most important virtues. It is the essential quality that creates peace and harmony in human societies throughout the world. Confucius taught that the root of kindness first develops in the caring relationships we have with our closest family members and then later extends out to others in our local communities and then to society as a whole.

In the supportive community of the City of 10,000 Buddhas, Kindness Camp gives students an opportunity to explore, reflect upon, and most importantly practice kindness under the guidance of teachers and staff of the Instilling Goodness Elementary and Developing Virtue Secondary Schools in lovely Mendocino County, California. Come and join children and teens from all over the world in activities such as meditation, hiking, sports, storytelling, learning Mandarin Chinese, recycling art, vegetarian cooking, and much more!
