On March 1, 2026, IGDVS celebrated its 50th anniversary—a milestone that brought together students, parents, teachers, alumni, and honored guests to commemorate the school’s remarkable journey. 

Before the event, the entire community joined forces to prepare for this once-in-a-lifetime celebration. The street was decorated with navy blue and gold ornaments reflecting the official anniversary theme. Birthday balloons lined the fences, and all student participants wore special headpieces to elevate the festive atmosphere. Many community members have also contributed homemade treats, including mushroom soup, spring rolls, cookies, tea, boba, and cupcakes. These wonderful decorations and tasty treats were appreciated and enjoyed by all.

In commemoration of this day, a cake competition was held. Students, parents and teachers came together to make wonderful cakes, each with its own unique flavor and design, all inspired by the spirit of the school. Alumni from many years ago returned to celebrate, reminiscing about their time at IGDVS and sharing stories and cherished memories. The students look forward to this reunion as they were excited to learn about the past alumni experiences. 

The celebration concluded with a special performance by the IGDVS Chinese Orchestra. Composed of students from boys and girls divisions, and featuring both western and eastern instruments, the orchestra performed the Happy Birthday song in honor of their beloved school. Attendees who were not a part of the orchestra joined in with their wonderful voices. Reflecting the diversity of the IGDVS community, the song was sung in three languages: English, Chinese, and Spanish.

Thus the illustrious 50-year legacy of the Instilling Goodness Developing Virtue School was celebrated with warmth, unity, and heartfelt appreciation. The celebration left everyone with renewed hope and gratitude, along with a shared wish to witness and take part in the school’s next 50‑year anniversary.

A special shout out to every individual who contributed to the event, to all who returned to the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas to celebrate, and to the devoted founders and supporters who have nurtured the school community over the past 50 years!!
