Young Scientists at the 40th Annual MCOE Science Fair

Posted by IGDVS Staff

The 40th annual MCOE Science Fair was a celebration of young scientists from across the county. With over 212 participants and numerous innovative projects on display, the event showcased the curiosity, creativity, and spirit of scientific inquiry among participating students.

Our school was proudly represented by students ranging from 3rd through 11th grade. Their projects spanned a wide array of disciplines, including life sciences, engineering, and product science, reflecting both depth and diversity in their scientific exploration.

We are incredibly proud of our junior scientists for their hard work and enthusiasm. A special congratulations goes to the four students who qualified for the state competition—an impressive achievement that highlights their passion for STEM. Their qualifying projects include Modulating Electrochemical Reaction-Zone Dynamics Using Hydrogel Coatings of Various Thickness by Bailey Lu and Thai Foo, as well as Temperature Transfer Reduction: Sustainable Fiber Insulation, an engineering project by Selene Luong and Sophia Heimberg.

In addition, the South Ukiah Rotary Award for Innovation was presented to the Tannin Weed Herbicide group, Kelly Xian, Sunny Sun and Miranda Wang, recognizing their creativity and practical approach to solving real-world challenges.
