We are pleased to announce that our school has been granted a full six-year accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), marking a significant milestone as the first time our entire K–12 school has received this recognition together. This achievement reflects years of dedication, growth, and collective effort by our entire school community.
Our high school (grades 9–12) has been accredited since 2007, with successful reaccreditation in 2013 and again in 2019. Extending accreditation across the full K–12 spectrum represents a new chapter in our school’s journey, underscoring our commitment to consistent academic excellence and whole-child development at every grade level.
The visiting accreditation committee highlighted several strengths within our community. They commended our teachers for their dedication and for embodying the core virtues. Our students were recognized for their motivation and active engagement in developing leadership skills. The committee also praised the support and involvement of our greater Buddhist community, which continues to enrich and strengthen our learning environment.
Looking ahead, our school is committed to building on this momentum. We are focusing on the following strategic goals to guide our continued growth and improvement:
- GOAL #1: Develop a more comprehensive character education curriculum and assessment based on the Eight Core Virtues.
- GOAL #2: Promote increased physical and collaborative activities to enhance student social-emotional learning.
- GOAL #3: Develop and implement a comprehensive outreach program that enhances local and global engagement for students, teachers, and community members.
- GOAL #4: Continue to strengthen the K-12 benchmark process to inform teacher practices, set department goals, and enhance school wide student learning outcomes.
This six-year accreditation is a celebration of who we are as a community and a vision of who we aspire to become. The official WASC letter can be viewed here. We are deeply grateful to our faculty, students, families, and supporters for making this achievement possible.
