The Ukiah Library recently hosted a vibrant Lunar New Year celebration in collaboration with IGDVS, bringing together the community to joyously welcome the Year of the Dragon. The event was a cultural celebration featuring enchanting performances by IGDVS students. Audiences were treated to traditional Chinese dances with grace and elegance, while musical talents shone through with guitar and saxophone performances accompanied by keyboard melodies.

The event also included an interactive activity where audiences joined in singing “Happy New Year” (新年好), filling the room with laughter and joy. The highlight of the evening was the captivating performance by the Chinese orchestra, filling the library with the rich harmonies of traditional instruments.

After the performances the audience enjoyed a variety of lunar new year snacks while participating in Chinese traditional arts and crafts. They wrote new year wishes with the calligraphy brush and tied Chinese knots into bracelets. At the end of the event, both the performers and audience left with a smile on their face, and their eyes shone with lingering excitement from the community celebration.
