2022 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

Last December, four students of DVGS submitted original works to the annual Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. These included meaningful poems and a personal essay, as well as poignant photographs that explored aspects of nature, society, art, and architecture.

The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards recognizes creative students locally and nationally by presenting them with awards, exhibitions, publications, and scholarships. In participating in this national program, students hope to explore their technical and artistic skills as well as cultivate the emergence of their personal voice or vision.

On January 31, 2022, the regional results were revealed, with all four participants gaining recognition for their submissions. In total, the students were awarded one Gold Key, seven Silver Keys, and three Honorable Mentions at the regional level. The gold-key-winning photograph “alien fingers” by Yee Kit Chan (Class of 2022) will also be moving on to the national round.

Congratulations to the winners and thank you to Jin Jr Shr and Ms. Kravitz, the students’ mentors for this competition!
