“It was absolutely worth it, our embarrassment for the teachers’ smiles.”

Tuesday, September 28th marks Confucius’ birthday, which is commonly tied to expressing appreciation for teachers. Millions of beloved teachers throughout the world were thus honored, a handful of which were in the Great Compassionate Quad attending the annual Teacher’s Day Celebration of Instilling Goodness & Developing Virtue Boys School. Having been served delicious desserts and tea, the teachers relaxed and enjoyed the performances by the students.

The show began with the junior high presenting their heartfelt poem written by class representative Khai Ngo (7). Led by Andrew Chang (9), the freshmen then sang “謝謝有你”, a Chinese song that conveys appreciation for teachers, marking the end of the normal performances. This was followed by a unique performance by the upperclassmen. When we are down, our teachers are always there for us; in return, the upperclassmen wanted to bring some laughter to the teachers. The juniors and seniors, forced to perform by ASB President Alston Liu (12), performed the viral children’s song “Baby Shark”. To make themselves look cooler, they also wore safety goggles to illustrate the underwater setting.

This year’s Teacher’s Day kept with tradition, filled with entertainment, cheerfulness, and gratefulness. Although words will never be sufficient, the students wish to sincerely thank all teachers for everything they have sacrificed for us. Thanks for attending!

For all the moon cakes, pastries, and desserts, we offer a big thank you to Mrs. Lau! Furthermore, another big (but not that big) thank you to Puze Gong (9) and Jevon Ji (8) for preparing the hot and zesty tea.
