On April 9, 2021, Instilling Goodness Elementary and Developing Virtue Secondary Schools hosted Cherishing Youth Day. Due to the pandemic, the celebration was held virtually over Zoom, and schools across Ukiah were invited to attend.

There were six Harry-Potter-themed activities: Fluffy’s Trap Door (Kindness), Devil’s Snare (Trustworthiness), Winged Keys (Respect), Chessboard Chamber (Citizenship), Potion Riddle (Honesty), and Mirror of Erised (Integrity). Through completing these activities, the students found the words “magic,” “brings,” “our,” “to,” “lives,” and “unity,” successfully forming the sentence “Unity brings magic to our lives,” which was the theme of this year’s Cherishing Youth Day.

After the activities, nine all-new performances and one behind-the-scenes vlog were premiered on the official IGDVS YouTube channel. From a heart-warming K-1 dance and a creative “Harry Potter in 99 Seconds” compilation to angelic Chinese dances and innovative musical mini-concerts, these performances were the culmination of the students’ efforts throughout the school year.

Despite the pandemic, we were able to continue our annual tradition of celebrating Cherishing Youth Day, and we would like to thank Jin Jr Shi, our teachers and staff, as well as all the students and teachers who participated in the event!
