Boys Division: School Song

The idea of a new school song, composed by the students and for the students, was introduced last May. Seated in the 9-10 classroom with notebooks in hand, four students, namely Chee Hee Seng, San Hong Lew, Marco He, and Nuoyan Wang, pondered upon their given assignment. To these novice composers, writing a song would merely require some words and a simple melody. But this notion was soon confuted, as they realized the magnitude of the task ahead.

To embody the unique aspects of our school, the song was to be completed with lyrics detailing the values taught by the Venerable Master. With the help of Dharma Master Yan, the students intricately composed the lyrics, describing the important virtues of kindness, respect, and filial piety, as well as the Six Great Principles.

Months later, the lyrics were finalized in September, and staff approval ensued shortly after. Soon, a new bilingual version was produced. Recorded then with only a camera, a piano, and a guitar, the song has since been drastically improved. Only recently, the final version was completed in the Music Performance and Composition Club (Boy Band) Studio, with over 30 audio tracks including a variety of instrumental melodies from both real and software produced instruments.
