Chinese New Year. A day when everyone is cheerful and delighted to start of the year fresh and just throw everything back in time. As the year of dog passes, the new year of the pig comes. The first day of the new year is a day when everyone sets down a new goal and reaches for it.
02/04/2019. The Freshmen class strolls down to the big dining hall. The aunties in the big dining hall already prepared the materials for us to make one of the most prominent traditional chinese dishes: “wonton”. Thanks to the aunties, we already have the fillings for the wonton and the skin of the wonton prepared for us to make wontons. As we witnessed how the aunties make the wonton, we were all excited to start making the wontons for one of the largest events that happens every year in boy school: the Chinese New Year celebration.

02/05/2019. After three periods of of waiting, the time had finally come to celebrate the annual Chinese New Year! The event was led by emcees Alston Liu (9th) and Sam Yap (9th). As part of the Chinese New Year rituals, we bowed to our ancestors, teachers, and parents, as well as the heavens and the earth. We gave each other Chinese New Year praises, wishing a great year for all. After ending the rituals, we invited the teachers and parents to get various kinds of foods such as fried rice and noodles, wonton, dumplings, and of course the food that represents the Chinese: spring rolls. While eating, we enjoyed a wonderful lion dance performance.
