“When you are content to be simply yourself and don’t compare or compete,
everyone will respect you.”
― Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching
Respect has the capacity to bring harmony and peace to the conflicts and dissension in the world. Moreover, respect could guide us to make wise choices for our family, our community, and ourselves. When we respect our family, we support each other to rise to the occasion. When we respect our community, we foster strong brotherhood. When we respect ourselves, we are model leaders of compassion, contentment, and humility.
At the City of 10,000 Buddhas, the summer camp gives students an opportunity to explore, reflect upon, and practice respect under the guidance of teachers and staff of the Instilling Goodness Elementary and Developing Virtue Secondary Schools in lovely Mendocino County, California. Come and join children and teens from all over the world in activities such as meditation, hiking, sports, storytelling, learning Mandarin Chinese, recycling art, creative writing, vegetarian cooking, and much more!
