Peace Day: Kinship with Inner and Outer Beings

Student Reporter: Klare Hu, Class of 2017

“The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.” (UN.org)

It is among the unsaid, but silently acknowledged truths that CTTB is an inclusive community of caring people. Nested in this harmony are also schools that missionize virtues and strive to educate youngsters the importance of gentle kindness. On September 21st, students from both the elementary and secondary schools joined hands to welcome the day of peace. They first lined up in front of the elementary school, the older kids paired with the younger ones, and marched their way up to the gates in a peace rally. Elementary kids brought their intricate hand made doves along with them. The older kids placed their palms together and recited, teachers and parents alike, the Six Character Great Bright Mantra. Bathed in the warm sunlight, vast clear sky, and the calming air was a day to celebrate kinship of all humans across borders, and the loving kindness that exists even in the minute details of life. But more importantly, it is a day to discover peace not on the outside, but rather, in the innermost of our hearts.
